New West Michigan Community Gives Buyers Housing OptionsAllen Edwin Homes has broken ground on a neighborhood in Grand Rapids with the hopes to alleviate some of the inventory strain.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich, August 30, 2018- Allen Edwin Homes, one of the largest home builders in the state has broken ground on a new community in Kentwood called Bretonfield Preserve. Bretonfield Preseve is located in the Kentwood School District on 60th Street, between Kalamazoo Avenue and Wing Avenue. Bretonfield Preserve is a new phase for Allen Edwin Homes in the Bretonfield development along the rapidly growing M6 corridor. The neighborhood will offer homebuyers 12 different floorplans ranging from ranches to two story homes with pricing starting from the $230,000s.
With current supply in Kentwood at less than a 1-month supply in many of the price points available to home buyers, Allen Edwin Homes’ new development seeks to help home buyers in a price point underserved in the market. Given the short supply of homes plus the proximity to many area businesses including the new Switch Data Center less than two miles away, Bretonfield Preserve is projected to meet a buyer’s market in a growing area of Kent County. The initial phase includes 42 home sites with additional phases to be developed in the coming years.
“We feel Bretonfield Preserve is coming at a perfect time to help fix a constrained market for first time and move up buyers that is missing in the West Michigan area,” said Mike McGivney, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Allen Edwin. “Buyers are getting frustrated with bidding wars on older homes that are in short supply and paying above market. Our Brentonfield Preserve community offers an affordable solution that brings an energy efficient, brand new home with today’s technology and style you can’t find in older homes.”
The new phase of Bretonfield Preserve will bring an additional 42 home sites to the community. It is an extension of the initial Bretonfield community that included 83 homes. Overall, the community will feature over 200 new homes. Pre-sales began in the new community at the beginning of May with 5 homes sold at the pre-grand opening. A total of 10 homes have sold to date.
