I have previously taught 4th grade. This will be my first year teaching kindergarten. As a 4th grade teacher I realized that so many students do not like to read and find it boring and it has been hard to keep students engaged in reading over then years. As a new kindergarten teacher I am focusing on creating a love for reading young in hopes that it will stay with them through the years. I also focus on creating a warm and welcoming environment for all students. A classroom where all students feel important, loved, and have confidence in their abilities.

My classroom is a welcoming place where kids know they’re accepted as they are. We pride ourselves on inclusion, and kids understand that mistakes are just part of the learning process. I meet kids where they are and help them believe in themselves whilr they “grow their brains,” as they often hear me say. Both independent and collaborative learning are woven throughout our day, as we work to widen our world view.

I have approximately 150 students each year from a wide range of social and economic backgrounds. My goal is to make each of them feel like part of a family. I want them to look forward to coming to class, and maybe even realize math isn't as horrible as some of them have felt. Being able to make my classroom welcoming and unique is something I have found helps the kids feel more comfortable. Any items donated help make the school year special for my students and myself!

My classroom isn’t just a classroom. It’s home. So many of my students every year and years past come to me because they want to feel loved and appreciated. I get called mom, granny, Titi, you name it because I remind them of the love they want and need daily. And if you give your scholars love they will buy into the education. You can’t teach a scholar and them retain what you want them to learn if that positive relationship isn’t there.

My classroom ia special because I love to foster a strong sense of inclusion and belonging. Too any kids feel like they don't fit in anywhere, and I want my room to be a place where everyone is accepted, respected, and appreciated just as they are.

Something that I believe makes my classroom unique and special is that I put an extra amount of care and effort into making it a safe space for students. I believe that all teachers likely try to make their classroom a safe space where students feel loved and protected, and I take that job very seriously. It is crucial to me that students feel connected and safe while they are at school so that they can be successful in learning. This is especially important at a Title 1 school, where I teach, because many times, these students come from difficult home backgrounds. If at all possible, I want my classroom to be where they come to feel safe, loved, and valued.

This is my second year teaching, after changing careers after raising my own daughters.

I spend a lot of money out of pocket to make my classroom extra special, as many of my kiddos do not have much at home.

This would help me provide a wonderful, homey, classroom for my kiddos.

This will be my second year teaching, and what made my classroom so special my first year was knowing that every experience was a new, shared experience between myself and my students. I was honest with them and their families that it was my first year teaching EVER! They were still all so supportive and patient while I learned the ropes. My students knew we didn’t have all of the fancy decorations they’d seen next door, and exactly why. Decorations are made by students! In my classroom, students helped make decor, with crafts and anti-bullying signage, they created handmade zones charts and by the end of the year we had a beautiful, decorated room like everyone else but with a small twist. It didn’t include previous years- the classroom was built by them and they were so proud. I plan on keeping some of it but also allowing my new class to do the same! I look forward to my job every day, learning new things about the career or children.

My classroom is a safe space for my students. We do morning meetings, power of yet, growth mindsets and check-ins everyday. My expectations are high and I'm known for holding my students accountable. My room is a cozy space where learning takes place while sitting on a coach, in a cozy corner, or at a desk or table. It's home for my kids. We also have bird feeders right outside of our room where we are able to watch the native Michigan bird species and we record our observations and see how many birds we can find.

I seek to provide a safe space for my students. My students often say that they feel “at home” in my classroom and that it’s cozy. I genuinely love and care about each of my students and while the English content it’s important, building relationships with my students is always my number one priority. I’m thankful each day I get to do this job and each first day of school feels like Christmas morning.

The welcoming organized environment. I want to be able to add to the organization making it very easy for students to access and manage. I also want to redo something in my classroom as over the years, book boxes are broken and just taped up for the time being. I would love to give my classroom the help it needs. There are many things that make my classroom special. I teach 5th grade math, and at my school, 5th grade is students' first year of middle school. I strive to build students' confidence by showing them that success in math isn't about being naturally gifted—it's about perseverance, problem-solving, and a willingness to keep trying. I also help students see how math connects to the real world so they can answer the familiar question, "When am I ever going to use this?" with meaningful, practical examples.

Above all, my classroom is a place where students feel safe to take risks, ask questions, and discover that they are capable of far more than they ever imagined.

I always build relationships with my students before we build upon their knowledge. Relationships over rigor has become extremely beneficial. I create an environment that helps build character, motivation, and lasting memories!!

I have been teaching at the same school for 40 years and this August will be starting my 41st year and I still love it! I like to create a kindergarten space that is happy, fun and students feel safe and cared for. I want them to love school!

As a special education teacher my room is used for more then just learning. Yes students often come to my room to be taught academic standards or get help with classroom skills, but they also come for so many other reasons. My room is a place to come when they are disregulated, overwhelmed, or just need a quite moment to regroup. We learn how to read and do math, and we also learn how to take deep breaths and understand big feelings.

Having an area in my room that is equipped to help students work through these big feelings is important to me. Due to the amount of use my calm down area and the items in it gets I have to frequently restock it. Items often break due to frequent use or find their way home with students who need it most. My wish list this year is focused on helping to restock needed items to continue to make this space special for my students.

This is my very first classroom and I’m determined to make this year magical.

In my classroom, we celebrate who we are and we learn that it's okay to make mistakes and grow from them! We start our art education experience through thinking and creating like artists, using literacy to make connections, and exploring different materials and tools.

I am a middle school counselor, so my office is a safe space for the approximately 250 students I work with. I have intentionally tried to make it a calming space for students to take a break or connect with me about things they want to talk about.

Each Kindergarten classroom in our district is a different animal. My room is the Butterfly Classroom. In our room we are a classroom family that work on creating that warming welcoming environment for everyone. We work hard throughout the school year while also having fun! At the end of the year I always throw my students a glow party where I cover all the windows with black paper and have activities all day long. We also celebrate with a themed beach day and have fun activities all day. This year I added on a did a camping day with the kids. I got long paper and hung it from the ceiling to make a large tent for each of my table groups. This will be my 11th year of teaching and can’t imagine doing anything else.

What makes my classroom special is I teach little ones from 3 to five years old and I am often the first school experience that these little ones have! My classroom is a place where students come to belong. I have students from all grades come and hang out for breaks, emotional stability and to see my class pets. They love to be responsible for the pets, have a chat or a snack, and I love that the entire school feels welcome to enjoy my cozy classroom!

I am the only Home Economics teacher in my district and I get to teach all students in my district at my building life skills like cooking, sewing, and skills they can use in the real world including doing their own laundry. I love to make connections with all of my students during the years I get to teach them .

My classroom is amazing because we all accept each other. My students are allowed to be who they are and use the tools they need to succeed.

My classroom is special to me because after just one year I have students who are not just on my caseload coming into my classroom during passing times/free periods. As a high school Economics teacher the supplies on my wishlist are for my Dixon Dollar$ class auctions. Students earn money to be able to buy items as they save on their class savings account registries. The more interesting items I have, the more demand they have! This allows them to have an incentive for positive behavior, prizes for games we play, and to learn the concepts.

What makes My Classroom special is the community of learners that are in it. Every year a new group of students enters and a new class community is created. But one thing that remains the same is the importance of teaching teamwork, acceptance, affirmation, and inclusion within our community of learners. These values are very important and help establish important lifelong skills to become a productive citizen in our community.

My classroom is a specialized, supportive space dedicated to neurodivergent students with autism. Because each of my students is so wonderfully unique, no two days are ever the same! What makes our room truly special is our focus on the whole child—we work just as hard on social-emotional growth, communication, and life skills as we do on academics.

Our ultimate goal is to help our students transition successfully into general education settings. Because everyone learns and processes the world differently, we rely on a variety of hands-on tools, sensory items, and engaging activities to keep our students regulated and excited to learn. My preschool classroom is a place where every child feels safe, loved, and excited to learn. We celebrate each child's unique strengths and learn through hands-on play, creativity, and exploration. I think one of my special talents is connecting with the kids and making them feel important. I am getting ready to start my 9th year teaching and every year, my class cries on the last day because we don’t want to spend time away from each other. It’s a very special bond inside our classroom!

I work with approximately 45 first and second graders. I have small groups six times a day with six different classes. I also squeeze in one-on-one work with several students several times throughout the day when they are not in another class. My activities are based on the Science of Reading Orton Gillingham method of teaching. There is a lot of direct phonics-based instruction such as blending drills, kinesthetic drills, and the reading of carefully picked out decodable books. I try to make the most out of my time. I often give out books when students fill out their chart. Their charts get filled up by a combination of behavior, reaching goals, and going out of their way to figure something out.

What makes my classroom special is the inclusive, supportive, and empowering environment my students and I create as a class. When a classroom is set up with the intention of student accessibility and success, it empowers students to take ownership over their learning and in turn, fosters inclusion and feelings of importance in the school community. As a teacher, my job is to set my students up for success, which includes creating a physical environment that promotes student growth. Creating a classroom family environment where students feel safe, appreciated, and heard is my top priority.

My classroom is special because I am able to teach young people how to be good human beings through play. As a theatre teacher, I teach students how to use their imaginations and solve real-world problems using theatre as the vehicle.

My classroom is a place where students of all grade levels and ability levels learn to not only grow academically, but as humans. They learn kindness, communication, how to overcome come hard challenges in my room. I teach multiple grade levels at one time which can be hard, but we all love each other.

I think what makes my classroom special is the environment that I’ve created with my students. More than anything, I’m proud that it’s a place where my students feel safe, loved, and comfortable being themselves. My goal is to make sure every child knows that they are valued and that they always have someone in their corner. I work hard to build positive relationships with my students and create a classroom where kindness, respect, and encouragement are part of our everyday routine. When students feel supported and cared for, they’re able to learn, grow, and enjoy coming to school each day.

I love my classroom because we all have such different backgrounds. Along with academics, every year we also love to learn about each of our classmates and what makes them unique. By the end of the year, we are a little family. This year our class is extra special because we will have a student teacher in our room. I’m excited to mentor a new teacher!

My classroom is special because I make learning fun like it should be for the littles. I am always looking for ways to make learning for engaging and thematic. This year I have decided to add a dramatic play center that will align with our reading units to help the level of understanding take the next step. As a Science Teacher who was previously worked in the science field, I love to create real world experiences for students. My 6th grade science students learn about space, physics, ecology and the scientific method. Any help would be greatly appreciated to help my students explore Science!

What makes my classroom special are the kids that come in it. I teach music for grades k-4 and watching them grow for 5 years is truly special. I make all my lesson inclusive so each child is able to participate in a way that is comfortable for them.

This is my first-ever year of teaching! I teach reading to 5th graders and am working to make my space comfortable and safe for all of my students. I don’t like having my kids sit quietly at desks all day, so we really need clipboards (allows them to sit around the room and for us to work outside in the grass) and individual whiteboards (to encourage interaction and checks for understanding during lessons).

Atlanta Community schools is a small rural school in Northern Michigan. We have small class sizes- which makes supplies go a little farther. Last year I had a big class of 25 and so there are some items that did not last two years like they usually do. These are things like play doh, expo markers etc. Help is so greatly appreciated.
The most unique thing about my classroom is my 20 year old niece works as my paraprofessional! I get to teach her the ropes while she gets her teaching degree! It’s a fantastic honor!

This is my first year teaching K-8 STEM at my school. I have previously taught 4th and 5th grade for the majority of my career. I am so excited to build a program that students benefit from. The thing that will make this classroom so special this year is that I will have the opportunity to share creativity and collaboration with students who are as young as 5 and as old as 14. I have plans to keep kids off screens as much as possible while learning about technology and science in hands on ways!

I teach Developmental Kindergarten and for most of my students, it is their first experience in a school setting I strive to make school exciting and memorable so they can grow to love learning. Their opinion of their earliest years in school can shape the way they view the next 12 years of their education. I tried to do as much hands-on learning as possible. For example, during our farm unit, we hatch baby chicks, and when learning about how we get food from the farm to our table, we make our own bread and butter. My utmost goal, is for my students to come to school every day, excited and ready to learn.

I am a first year teacher! A mother who changed careers in her 40s. My classroom is a place of possibility and discovery. Where every child can gain confidence in themselves and their sense of curiosity.

I teach mostly AP English Language and Composition, so I form a special bond with students preparing for a really tough test all year. It’s also mostly reading and writing non-fiction, which can be difficult compared to other English classes. We just got AP scores back yesterday and I received four emails from students who passed. My students really are the best!

I am so proud to say my classroom is full of laughter and fun. That is what makes it so special. I believe the best learning happens when the classroom is able to bond through interactive lessons, project based learning, and some friendly competition. One of my favorite lessons throughout the year is our Kidstown Market where all of the fourth grade classes make items by hand to sell (for blue bucks) at their very own store! Fourth grade is such an exciting time for these kiddos. I try my feet best to make it a year that is hard to forget.

I teach 6th grade social studies, which, in Michigan, focuses a lot on Geography and culture. Though SS is often put in the back burner to critical subjects like math and reading, I firmly believe that learning about the world around us is absolutely necessary in our global society. My classroom serves a vital and vibrant community: 50 to 60 of our school’s most at-risk K–5 readers. While this means I support more than double the number of students as a typical classroom teacher in my building, I receive the exact same base funding. Despite these budget constraints, it brings me tremendous pride to witness my students' growth. I am a school speech language pathologist serving students from Kindergarten to 5th grade. Students with all different abilities, strengths, and weaknesses come together to grow and learn in my room. I try to make learning fun and engaging in the speech room. As most of my students have different goals from each other (articulation, language, AAC, stuttering, etc.), they learn how to use their own strengths to help their classmates with the materials that might be more difficult for them and vice versa. In the speech room, students keep track of their progress across the school year and take pride in their growth. In the speech room, students are able to get support with their specific areas of need in a space with peers and a SLP who want to see them grow and succeed each and every day.

While my students aren’t always making progress on grade level standards, they are always making progress on their personal goals, both academic and personal. Seeing students get excited about learning for the first time, because they feel they are capable of learning and feel seen for the first time ever is always amazing!

My classroom is like a big family- we support one another, celebrate successes, and make sure everyone feels they belong. We believe learning should be fun, so there is lots of laughter, kid-friendly sarcasm, and jokes throughout the day!
My goal is to make learning engaging, memorable, and meaningful while helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. I hope every student leaves 5th grade not only ready for middle school, but with great memories and a smile on their face.

My classroom is made up of 3-5 year old children with special needs.

I have been teaching for 11 years in Marion County, Florida. Over the course of my career, I have served all types of students from ESOL and ESE to gifted. My bachelor's degree is in Early Childhood Education and my Master's is in Teacher Leadership. My dream is to be a reading coach or a program specialist, helping to create curriculum that is rigorous and also aligned to benchmarks. I do not have children of my own so my whole heart goes into making my classroom a loving environment. The school that I currently teach at serves a lot of lower socioeconomic households as well as a significant homeless and transient population. Their time in school matters for their development but sometimes it's the only place they have a safe meal and someone that tells them that they are loved.

We’re building a student-led culinary program that mirrors a real commercial kitchen, giving students hands-on experience while teaching teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership.

Many of my students discover passions and strengths they never knew they had. Whether they’re mastering knife skills, creating menus, serving guests, or simply finding the confidence to try something new, my goal is for every student to leave believing they’re capable of more than they imagined.

This year is especially meaningful because we’re growing into our school’s first true commercial kitchen and café. Every donated item helps create opportunities for students to learn through real-world experiences that will impact them long after they leave my classroom.

As I begin my 12th year in public education, I am excited to create a classroom where curiosity, kindness, and confidence grow every day. At Space Academy, students are encouraged to think like scientists, solve problems like mathematicians, and explore new ideas through hands-on learning and technology.

My classroom is built with one goal in mind: helping students become independent learners who believe in themselves. Every system, project, and lesson is designed with purpose—not just to teach standards, but to teach students how to think critically, solve problems, collaborate, and take ownership of their learning. I believe memorable learning comes from meaningful experiences, so my students don’t just complete assignments—they create, explore, question, and reflect. I hold high expectations because I know every child is capable of rising to them with the right support. More than anything, I want my classroom to be a place where students leave more confident, more curious, and ready to tackle challenges long after they’ve left my room.

In my classroom we become family with a great mix of personalities and teamwork. Students also learn great communication skills and are ready for the work force after they complete a one or two years in my program.

I have been a teacher for 14 years now and have seen education go through a lot of changes. One thing that I try to never change is my love and joy of teaching! Even though they are there to learn, having that relationship with each student comes first. I try to make my classroom a comfortable and calm environment where students can take charge of their learning, while I guide and support them along the way. I am trying to include more hands-on activities to help students learn. This is my 19th year as a middle school math teacher and I am still learning and trying new things to help my students. I love learning.

This year will be my 4th year with 6 of my students . I love watching my students reach mile stones that others may overlook: learning a new word to communicate, becoming more independent mastering a daily living skill, or singly gaining confidence. Our students don’t just learn through academics . They learn through experiences, relationships , and opportunities to be part of the school community with their peers.We have our challenging times but we work through it by learning what our needs are at the time: is it a movement break , a sensory activity, a walk outside the classroom to regroup, 1-1 talk time, a calming break, a more structured task, a nurse check in, deep pressure or heavy work activities or outside time These are just a few think outside the box ideas we try to help our students recognize they may need before they melt down. We also celebrate the little wins as well as the big wins My students have taught me as much as I have taught them.They remind me every day to celebrate the little things , never give up and find joy in milestone along the way. I wouldn’t do any other job.

The children and our families! I am so blessed to have a classroom where we learn, grow & discover every day! The children come in with questions and ideas that lead to adventures and exploring. Watching 3yr olds from September to May is incredible. The growth and independence, the confidence and courage, the excitement and wonder, the relationships and friendships is magical 🥹 they come in as babies and leave as little kids ready for the world.

I am eager to embark on a new adventure with a new school. I’m moving schools and grade levels. I create a homey environment for students to feel relaxed and calm while they’re learning. I enjoy room transformations, celebrating special holidays, and building strong relationships with students and their families.

I have provided all of the things in my classroom to make my classroom a homey room. It’s important to me to make sure all students have what they need to make them feel safe, love, and important. Things on my list are to replenish what I’m almost out on or to replace things before I leave for my maternity leave in the fall/winter.

I am a Master's student pursing an early childhood education degree. This upcoming school year, I will be placed in a 2nd grade classroom at Crissey Elementary in Holland, Ohio. I create a laid-back welcoming environment that allows fun and creativity.

What makes my classroom special is that I serve 700 middle school student grade 6-8. I am a school nurse and there aren’t giveaways or clear the list for us. But I’m educating 50 plus students a day on hydration, nutrition, hygiene and puberty changes. I am their safe space I am who they come to when feeling anxious and need a listening ear. I teach them proper hand washing and hold CPR and hemlich maneuver classes free of charge because I want them to be prepared.

My classroom is a self-contained ASD classroom with 8 students with sensory needs and high levels of academic needs. My students are very sensitive and love to learn. While they all have unique differences, they love to learn and interact with their peers.

Teaching Kindergarten for the past 8 years has been great watching so much student growth throughout the year. This year I am wanting to update and include some things to make my classroom feel more like home for students. I also want to incorporate hands on and more game activities instead more technology.

I have been teaching for eight years, all in Kindergarten and all in the same room. It’s been quite a journey, and I’m thankful to be able to be many students first teacher! I teach at a Title I school, which means many families that attend cannot afford basic supplies, snacks, or even meals. My school offers free breakfast and lunch for all students, and I like being able to provide an afternoon snack as well. I also give all students whatever supplies they need, including pencils, glue sticks, scissors, crayons, and more.

My students are all very unique in their own ways! Being a special education teacher and in a special education classroom, that makes my classroom special in itself.

I have the unique opportunity in 5th grade to teach just ELA to 4 classes. I have been trying to do different seating options to engage students because reading isn’t always a favorite of students, but it is one of my favorites. So I try hard to get them to love it as much as I do. I also am trying some new things with my co-worker this year to have students earn beads as they read instead of taking tests.

My class is a safe spot for students who are struggling with reading for a variety of reasons to take chances and find success when they may not in a whole class setting. The students I work with come in feeling like they just aren't good at reading, and leave knowing that their brains may work a little differently, and they may need more practice than others, but every single student that comes into my class knows they are capable of reading success!

At Countryside Elementary, the music classroom is a vibrant community hub where students discover that music naturally brings people together.
