I strive for a nurturing and loving environment in my classroom. I’ve known as the lemon teacher because that’s my theme in my room. I always joke that my students can be sour or they can be sweet. I am moving to a brand new district this year. I don’t really know what to expect. I’m very excited but very nervous. I love getting to start a child’s education career and be the first person to impact their lives as a kindergarten teacher. I wanna be the teacher that they come back to every year just to say hi cause they know they’re always welcome. My favorite part of teaching is getting to see them grow up and get so big throughout the years. I love what I do and wouldn’t change it for the world.

This will be my first year teaching! I was able to do my student teaching with at the building I was hired at and will be partners with my mentor teacher. This had helped me out a ton in knowing what materials I’ll need to make my classroom amazing for my future students. I have spent the last 6 years working as a substitute teacher and summer learning program teacher while getting my degree and cannot wait to put together an amazing, welcoming environment for all my students with all the experience I was able to build.

My preschool classroom is a place where every child feels safe, loved, and excited to learn. We celebrate each child's unique strengths and learn through hands-on play, creativity, and exploration. Every day is filled with laughter, kindness, and meaningful moments that build confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning. What makes my classroom special is all of the relationships that I create with each student. I make sure to really get to know each student that walks into my room. I feel like if a student feels save and valued, then they are more willing to learn and participate in the classroom.

This will be my second year teaching, and what made my classroom so special my first year was knowing that every experience was a new, shared experience between myself and my students. I was honest with them and their families that it was my first year teaching EVER! They were still all so supportive and patient while I learned the ropes. My students knew we didn’t have all of the fancy decorations they’d seen next door, and exactly why. Decorations are made by students! In my classroom, students helped make decor, with crafts and anti-bullying signage, they created handmade zones charts and by the end of the year we had a beautiful, decorated room like everyone else but with a small twist. It didn’t include previous years- the classroom was built by them and they were so proud. I plan on keeping some of it but also allowing my new class to do the same! I look forward to my job every day, learning new things about the career or children.

I try to make every child feel included and that their voice is heard. I love building the relationships that the children thrive on and ensure that every child’s needs are met. My room is a safe space for all children in the school.

I teach 6th grade social studies, which, in Michigan, focuses a lot on Geography and culture. Though SS is often put in the back burner to critical subjects like math and reading, I firmly believe that learning about the world around us is absolutely necessary in our global society. It allows us to show how all of the different pieces of the puzzle can come together to create some pretty awesome things.

I strive to make my classroom a safe environment for all students. Many students come back to visit me years later because they remember how I treated them, with kindness, even when they had hard times.

What makes my classroom special is those that enter it. I cherish time spent with students. I enjoy what I do it is my passion not just a “job”. I am always told how inviting and comfortable my classroom is! I try to create a space for students to be themselves and creative!

I've always loved puzzles, and teaching feels like solving a new one every year. Each year my classroom is made up of unique pieces—every student, every personality, every learning style, and every challenge. My job is to get to know each piece, understand how it fits, and work tirelessly to bring everything together into a classroom community where every child can thrive. It's never the same puzzle twice which makes it SO special and that's exactly what I love most.

My preschool classroom serves children ages 4–5 during one of the most important stages of their development. Every day, our students build the foundational skills they need for kindergarten success through engaging, hands-on learning experiences in early literacy, writing, mathematics, and science. While academic readiness is a priority, I believe children learn best through purposeful play. Our classroom follows an open-play model that allows students to make choices, solve problems, collaborate with peers, and explore materials based on their interests. This child-led approach fosters creativity, independence, communication, and critical thinking while encouraging a lifelong love of learning. In addition to academics, we place a strong emphasis on developing fine motor skills through activities that strengthen the small muscles in children’s hands, preparing them for writing, cutting, and other everyday tasks. Sensory exploration is also an essential part of our classroom. I am going into my first year of teaching and this classroom will be very new to me! I’m really starting fresh, so trying to get as much as I can before the school year starts to ensure that I’ll have a successful first year and start to my career!!

We are a very small rural school with an average graduating class of 60 students. Teachers in our building do not get much funding, and we have to fundraise throughout the year for extracurricular activities. Students in my classroom deserve nice things, especially because it shows them that they matter and are valuable. I strive to create a safe and operational learning environment for all students no matter the background they came from.

As a school nurse, my wants are regularly forgotten. My district does a great job budgeting for my needs but I do still have a hard time getting my supplies to last a whole school year. I average about 2,500 student visits per school year that are unplanned. I have many items on my list that would make my job easier but also supplies that are not able to be purchased using school funds. Usually, I buy a lot of these items myself so any sort of donation would make a big impact! Thank you for the chance to have your support.

The items that are in my cart will allow my students the opportunity to have a safe and engaging classroom. These things create a classroom that is a safe environment and allows kids to be creative and socially free. As a Title I school, sometimes we have students show up to school without supplies. I want to make sure my students have what they need to learn and grow! The goal of my wishlist is to make sure my students want to come to school. For some of our students, school is their safe place. I want them to look forward to coming to my classroom instead of dreading the same old classroom they see every year.

Every year I try to make my classroom a home and a safe space for the children entering it. We spend so much time together, it’s imperative to make it a welcoming, fun, and encouraging space for children to learn.

My classroom is a space for creating, discovering, and solving. I teach science to 6th grade students of all abilities. My goal is to cultivate a space where students are not afraid to try and fail! All failures lead to organic learning.

Since my school is in a low socio-economic area with many students dealing with gun violence, addictions, and/or homelessness, my office may be the only space they have to relax and take a second for themselves.

My classroom is special because we make sure every child leaves knowing they are important. We spend the year focused on social emotional development and making sure their basic needs are being met. That looks different with every child but getting to know them is what makes our class special.

My first-grade classroom is more than just a place to learn—it is a community where children discover their strengths, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love of learning. Each year, I welcome approximately 24 students from our rural community, bringing together children with diverse personalities, experiences, and dreams. My greatest hope is that each child leaves first grade not only with strong academic skills but also with the confidence, compassion, and curiosity to make a positive difference in the world.

I have been teaching at the same school for 40 years and this August will be starting my 41st year and I still love it! I like to create a kindergarten space that is happy, fun and students feel safe and cared for. I want them to love school!

Elizabeth Brownell's classroom has a 90% rate of students who qualify for the free lunch program because of low income. Also the classroom is very diverse with students from several African, and Indian backgrounds.

I recently graduated from Purdue University so this will be my first year of teaching! I am so excited to have my own class. Being a first year teacher means I don’t have alot of materials for the class yet so anything will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

As a special education teacher my room is used for more then just learning. Yes students often come to my room to be taught academic standards or get help with classroom skills, but they also come for so many other reasons. My room is a place to come when they are disregulated, overwhelmed, or just need a quite moment to regroup. We learn how to read and do math, and we also learn how to take deep breaths and understand big feelings. Having an area in my room that is equipped to help students work through these big feelings is important to me. Due to the amount of use my calm down area and the items in it gets I have to frequently restock it. Items often break due to frequent use or find their way home with students who need it most. My wish list this year is focused on helping to restock needed items to continue to make this space special for my students.

I pride myself on providing a calm environment where everybody is welcome. Kids can whole heartedly be themselves, making them capable to learn and grow as a family.

I’ll be switching from high school special education to 2nd grade!

This is my first year as a teacher in the elementary school I went to! I’m very excited for my first year!

My classroom is special because it’s a place where students feel valued, supported, and excited to learn. My classroom is special because I get to teach science to 8th graders who are beginning to consider career pathways. I also created a new course last year called forensic science to see the real world applications of science. I would love to add to my resources for that class .

We are preparing children for learning not only letters and numbers, but social emotional and problem solving skills. We are often children’s first teachers and want to give children a head start and love for learning. My class is a new class to the district, just opening in December.

My classroom serves a vital and vibrant community: 50 to 60 of our school’s most at-risk K–5 readers. While this means I support more than double the number of students as a typical classroom teacher in my building, I receive the exact same base funding. Despite these budget constraints, it brings me tremendous pride to witness my students' growth. I am a speech-language pathologist for the little ones in our district in young fives through second grade. I love seeing the happy faces of my students, as they are excited to come to their speech sessions. I try to make learning as fun as I can for them.

Everyone says that my classroom is home. It is safe and inviting. I strive every year to have a place that students know they can come and decompress, get support, and feel loved. I am a resource room teacher, but more than that, I am their support. For all students. I have a care closet that I try to keep stocked with snacks, deodorant, hair ties, toothpaste and toothbrushes, etc.

I seek to provide a safe space for my students. My students often say that they feel “at home” in my classroom and that it’s cozy. I genuinely love and care about each of my students and while the English content it’s important, building relationships with my students is always my number one priority. I am very passionate about grammar, writing, and all things ELA and my students know it. My hope is that this passion carries over to make the subjects more exciting for them.

What makes my classroom special are the kids that come in it. I teach music for grades k-4 and watching them grow for 5 years is truly special. I make all my lesson inclusive so each child is able to participate in a way that is comfortable for them.

I am a school speech language pathologist serving students from Kindergarten to 5th grade. Students with all different abilities, strengths, and weaknesses come together to grow and learn in my room. I try to make learning fun and engaging in the speech room. As most of my students have different goals from each other (articulation, language, AAC, stuttering, etc.), they learn how to use their own strengths to help their classmates with the materials that might be more difficult for them and vice versa. In the speech room, students keep track of their progress across the school year and take pride in their growth. In the speech room, students are able to get support with their specific areas of need in a space with peers and a SLP who want to see them grow and succeed each and every day.

While my students aren’t always making progress on grade level standards, they are always making progress on their personal goals, both academic and personal. Seeing students get excited about learning for the first time, because they feel they are capable of learning and feel seen for the first time ever is always amazing!

i work in the middle school special needs class!

I have taught for 33 years in early childhood. Kindergarten is my favorite to teach. I love being the foundation of learning. The look on a young child’s face when they do something for the first time just never gets old. I strive to make sure that every child feels loved and supported. They can all do great things!!

This is my second year ever teaching and I was told that last year I would have to restart my career and teach life skills. I am excited for the experience but nervous because all of the materials I had purchased I had to donate to other classrooms or teachers because I am unable to use them in my new classroom. My goal for every child is for their needs to be met and for each and every one of them to feel included and loved in the school setting. I am trying to fund my classroom to support my students but am struggling with the financial burden that comes with supporting these students. All of my students are eligible for special education services under the category of Autism Spectrum Disorder. I’m trying my best to support these students and all the needs that they have but I’m struggling financially to be able to give them everything that they need in the school setting. My classroom is a specialized, supportive space dedicated to neurodivergent students with autism. Because each of my students is so wonderfully unique, no two days are ever the same! What makes our room truly special is our focus on the whole child—we work just as hard on social-emotional growth, communication, and life skills as we do on academics. I teach Developmental Kindergarten and for most of my students, it is their first experience in a school setting I strive to make school exciting and memorable so they can grow to love learning. Their opinion of their earliest years in school can shape the way they view the next 12 years of their education. I tried to do as much hands-on learning as possible. For example, during our farm unit, we hatch baby chicks, and when learning about how we get food from the farm to our table, we make our own bread and butter. Hi! I am switching school districts and will be teaching STEAM class to pre-K though 5th grade students. This school has not had one teacher in this role, it has been a mix of traveling teachers so it will be nice to be at one school and get to know all of the students well. The room needs a lot of work to be a welcoming environment where students can learn and explore. I want to make an inclusive environment where students feel safe to make mistakes and know that it is part of the learning process. I want to have my students represented in books and resources in my class through seeing students who look like them with various abilities. I would use this money to create a welcoming space and to purchase STEAM supplies for students to use. Specials teachers often don’t receive donations like classroom teachers. As a first year teacher and recent Trine University graduate, my ultimate goal is to create a welcoming and supportive classroom for my students. Teaching Kindergarten for the past 8 years has been great watching so much student growth throughout the year. This year I am wanting to update and include some things to make my classroom feel more like home for students. I also want to incorporate hands on and more game activities instead more technology.

I have been teaching for eight years, all in Kindergarten and all in the same room. It’s been quite a journey, and I’m thankful to be able to be many students first teacher! I teach at a Title I school, which means many families that attend cannot afford basic supplies, snacks, or even meals. My school offers free breakfast and lunch for all students, and I like being able to provide an afternoon snack as well. I also give all students whatever supplies they need, including pencils, glue sticks, scissors, crayons, and more.

My students are all very unique in their own ways! Being a special education teacher and in a special education classroom, that makes my classroom special in itself.

In my 5th grade classroom, students grow not only as learners but also as people. It is a year of building independence, confidence, responsibility, and leadership as students prepare for middle school. My class is a safe spot for students who are struggling with reading for a variety of reasons to take chances and find success when they may not in a whole class setting. The students I work with come in feeling like they just aren't good at reading, and leave knowing that their brains may work a little differently, and they may need more practice than others, but every single student that comes into my class knows they are capable of reading success!

My classroom is a warm and inviting place that feels like home to my students. I teach 3rd grade learning support and my first goal is to always make my students feel safe and secure. I like to provide them snacks daily because they can't learn if their basic needs aren't met.

I am a former principal returning to the classroom! I am starting over without supplies having given all of my supplies to teachers while I was principal. I missed being with the kids so I’m going back to what I love most: the classroom!

My classroom is special because it is a safe space for all children to grow, connect with peers and learn through fun hands on activities.

I believe the most important thing I can create in my classroom is a place where every student feels they belong. My classroom is more than a space to learn, reading, math, science, and social studies. It’s a community built on kindness, teamwork and respect. I strive to make every child feel valued, supported and confident enough to take risks and grow. As an educator, I am always looking for ways to improve my teaching. I enjoy finding creative approaches that make learning more engaging while ensuring every lesson has a clear purpose. My goal is not only to help students master academic standards, but also to help them become curious learners, thoughtful teammates, resilient problem-solvers, and kind people. When students leave my classroom, I hope they remember not only what they learned, but also how they felt: supported, challenged, celebrated, and excited to keep learning.

We are a low income, Title 1 school. Our students come from all walks of life and I want the opportunity to give each one not only a fair, but quality education that they can take with them in future endeavors.

My classroom supports adults with Moderate Cognitive Impairments, we focus on life skills and functional skills to help our students be as independent as possible. Our classroom does a weekly coffee cart for staff around the building and students are very involved from; stocking the cart, putting our logo on cups, taking orders, cleaning, and practicing money skills. This gives them the confidence to be able to put their skills to practice. Our students may perform academically at a Pre-K or Kindergarten level but they are also more capable and understanding than most.

My classroom is special because we have lots of personalities and respect for each other.

I teach mostly AP English Language and Composition, so I form a special bond with students preparing for a really tough test all year. It’s also mostly reading and writing non-fiction, which can be difficult compared to other English classes. We just got AP scores back yesterday and I received four emails from students who passed. My students really are the best!

The students! I have the best, hardest working students who deserve all the support and supplies we can get!

In our classroom, we work very hard to make sure every student feels special and has a voice. This means all of our ideas are important and our needs are met. Not only do we work to fill academic needs but social and emotional needs as well!

Every child deserves a classroom where they feel inspired, valued, and excited to learn. As a first grade teacher, I strive to create a space filled with hands-on learning, meaningful experiences, and opportunities for every student to succeed. My classroom is special because I make it my mission to make all students feel safe and comfortable. I love to create a fun learning environment with as much hands on learning as possible. I absolutely love teaching so much, all my students will always be special to me.

I’m a first year teacher! I’m super excited to get started. It has always been my dream to be a teacher and now my dream and now become my reality!

My classroom is special because there are 30 students that are going to enter my space and be expected to learn and be held to high expectations. This year I am trying a room that has flexible seating and really teaches organizational skills and responsibility within the classroom.

I feel that my classroom is special because it's centered around my students. They create all of the decor and they could honestly run the classroom without me. They are the ones who set the pace and are responsible for their learning.

My classroom is special because I make learning fun like it should be for the littles. I am always looking for ways to make learning for engaging and thematic. This year I have decided to add a dramatic play center that will align with our reading units to help the level of understanding take the next step. If I were to be one of the lucky teachers chosen, the items chosen off of my wishlist would help develop this area of my classroom. Thanks for the opportunity to be able to apply! I think one of my special talents is connecting with the kids and making them feel important. I am getting ready to start my 9th year teaching and every year, my class cries on the last day because we don’t want to spend time away from each other. It’s a very special bond inside our classroom!

I’m proud of the classroom culture I build every school year. One that empowers children to be positive leaders and one that includes children of all abilities. My yearly goal is to make all children feel safe to make mistakes and learn from them. I am proud of the relationships I build with my students and their families however, watching my students support one another (especially children with special needs)is my greatest joy.
