Teacher campaign clear the list

Clear the List for Local Educators!

Every classroom deserves to start the school year ready to learn.

Across Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio, hundreds of educators purchase classroom supplies with their own money each year. Allen Edwin Homes and our Preferred Lenders are proud to help by purchasing $150 in classroom supplies for one educator every day throughout August.

But this campaign is bigger than us.

We're inviting our communities to help Clear the Lists by purchasing items directly from an educator's Amazon Wish List. Whether you buy a box of pencils or an entire classroom's remaining supplies, every contribution helps teachers focus less on expenses and more on educating the next generation.

I have previously taught 4th grade. This will be my first year teaching kindergarten. As a 4th grade teacher I realized that so many students do not like to read and find it boring and it has been hard to keep students engaged in reading over then years. As a new kindergarten teacher I am focusing on creating a love for reading young in hopes that it will stay with them through the years. I also focus on creating a warm and welcoming environment for all students. A classroom where all students feel important, loved, and have confidence in their abilities.

My classroom is a welcoming place where kids know they’re accepted as they are. We pride ourselves on inclusion, and kids understand that mistakes are just part of the learning process. I meet kids where they are and help them believe in themselves whilr they “grow their brains,” as they often hear me say. Both independent and collaborative learning are woven throughout our day, as we work to widen our world view.

I have approximately 150 students each year from a wide range of social and economic backgrounds. My goal is to make each of them feel like part of a family. I want them to look forward to coming to class, and maybe even realize math isn't as horrible as some of them have felt. Being able to make my classroom welcoming and unique is something I have found helps the kids feel more comfortable. Any items donated help make the school year special for my students and myself!

My classroom isn’t just a classroom. It’s home. So many of my students every year and years past come to me because they want to feel loved and appreciated. I get called mom, granny, Titi, you name it because I remind them of the love they want and need daily. And if you give your scholars love they will buy into the education. You can’t teach a scholar and them retain what you want them to learn if that positive relationship isn’t there.

Something that I believe makes my classroom unique and special is that I put an extra amount of care and effort into making it a safe space for students. I believe that all teachers likely try to make their classroom a safe space where students feel loved and protected, and I take that job very seriously. It is crucial to me that students feel connected and safe while they are at school so that they can be successful in learning. This is especially important at a Title 1 school, where I teach, because many times, these students come from difficult home backgrounds. If at all possible, I want my classroom to be where they come to feel safe, loved, and valued.

What makes this classroom special?

This will be my second year teaching, and what made my classroom so special my first year was knowing that every experience was a new, shared experience between myself and my students. I was honest with them and their families that it was my first year teaching EVER! They were still all so supportive and patient while I learned the ropes. My students knew we didn’t have all of the fancy decorations they’d seen next door, and exactly why. Decorations are made by students! In my classroom, students helped make decor, with crafts and anti-bullying signage, they created handmade zones charts and by the end of the year we had a beautiful, decorated room like everyone else but with a small twist. It didn’t include previous years- the classroom was built by them and they were so proud. I plan on keeping some of it but also allowing my new class to do the same! I look forward to my job every day, learning new things about the career or children.

I've been a second grade teacher for nearly 15 years in the same classroom. For the first time ever, I am transferring to a new building and potentially a new grade level (I was told it could be first). Change is good but even though I'm a veteran teacher, I'm getting all of those new teacher feels. I have new colleagues and families to meet, to show my passion to and new students to teach and love. I'm excited to set up a brand new space/classroom that makes students feel safe, calm, and happy. I want it to be a calm space that makes learning come easier because everyone feels accepted, loved and well cared for.

My room is a cozy space where learning takes place while sitting on a coach, in a cozy corner, or at a desk or table. It's home for my kids. We also have bird feeders right outside of our room where we are able to watch the native Michigan bird species and we record our observations and see how many birds we can find.

What makes this classroom special?

There are many things that make my classroom special. I teach 5th grade math, and at my school, 5th grade is students' first year of middle school. Because of this, I work hard to create an environment that feels welcoming, familiar, and supportive—bridging the gap between the comfort of elementary school and the increased independence of middle school.

My classroom is also a place where students can experience math from a different perspective. Many students walk through my door already believing they are either "good" or "bad" at math, and some have already decided they simply don't like it. My goal is to challenge those beliefs. I want every student to realize that they are capable of learning math, even when it's difficult. Mistakes are expected, celebrated as part of the learning process, and used as opportunities to grow.

I strive to build students' confidence by showing them that success in math isn't about being naturally gifted—it's about perseverance, problem-solving, and a willingness to keep trying. I also help students see how math connects to the real world so they can answer the familiar question, "When am I ever going to use this?" with meaningful, practical examples.

Above all, my classroom is a place where students feel safe to take risks, ask questions, and discover that they are capable of far more than they ever imagined.

As a special education teacher my room is used for more then just learning. Yes students often come to my room to be taught academic standards or get help with classroom skills, but they also come for so many other reasons. My room is a place to come when they are disregulated, overwhelmed, or just need a quite moment to regroup. We learn how to read and do math, and we also learn how to take deep breaths and understand big feelings.

Having an area in my room that is equipped to help students work through these big feelings is important to me. Due to the amount of use my calm down area and the items in it gets I have to frequently restock it. Items often break due to frequent use or find their way home with students who need it most. My wish list this year is focused on helping to restock needed items to continue to make this space special for my students.

One thing that makes my classroom special is that we make it our second home. My students and I build relationships together and we all look forward to spending our day together in our room. I believe the most important thing I can create in my classroom is a place where every student feels they belong. My classroom is more than a space to learn, reading, math, science, and social studies. It’s a community built on kindness, teamwork and respect. I strive to make every child feel valued, supported and confident enough to take risks and grow.

As an educator, I am always looking for ways to improve my teaching. I enjoy finding creative approaches that make learning more engaging while ensuring every lesson has a clear purpose. My goal is not only to help students master academic standards, but also to help them become curious learners, thoughtful teammates, resilient problem-solvers, and kind people.

When students leave my classroom, I hope they remember not only what they learned, but also how they felt: supported, challenged, celebrated, and excited to keep learning.

My classroom is special, because we have deep relational trust. Once our routines are established and classroom management is set, I use appropriate humor and allow for shared, lighthearted moments.

However, when it's time to focus on the task at hand, my students instantly recognize our cue of 'class class' and self-regulate back to learning mode.

Since mutual respect is established, my students know that they truly matter, which makes them eager to learn.

I work with approximately 45 first and second graders. I have small groups six times a day with six different classes. I also squeeze in one-on-one work with several students several times throughout the day when they are not in another class. My activities are based on the Science of Reading Orton Gillingham method of teaching. There is a lot of direct phonics-based instruction such as blending drills, kinesthetic drills, and the reading of carefully picked out decodable books. I try to make the most out of my time. I often give out books when students fill out their chart. Their charts get filled up by a combination of behavior, reaching goals, and going out of their way to figure something out.

29 years I have taught in the same amazing building! I have taught both 4th and 5th grade. Currently, I teach 4th grade English Language Arts, Gifted Education and Social Studies. I drive 30 miles each way to my school, which is a brick building from 1933 near Lake Erie in a rural area known for bird watching and soy beans. Over 1/3 of our population is economically disadvantaged, but we have the most caring families, students, staff and community support that I love teaching there!
My fourth graders are lively, funny and artistic. They enjoy working together to solve logic problems, read to younger students, draw animals, and complete vocabulary crosswords in partners. They often work on the floor to work, read, and play. They are special because they continue to DO HARD THINGS, even when they struggle. My students encourage each other and continue to amaze me with their deep insights, creative thinking and imaginative artwork!

I’ve spent years supporting classrooms as a paraprofessional, and now that I get to lead my own, I’m pouring everything I’ve learned into creating a space that feels warm, welcoming, and full of possibility. My goal is simple: help every student grow — academically, socially, and as a human being — and make sure they know they matter every single day.

What makes this classroom special?

What makes my classroom truly special is the heart behind it. As a first‑year fifth‑grade teacher, I’ve worked hard to create a space that feels safe, joyful, and full of purpose. Our classroom has a fun 90s theme that brings a sense of nostalgia and excitement, but beyond the bright colors and playful touches, the most important thing is the atmosphere of love and encouragement. Because I teach in a Christian school, every lesson is grounded in the truth of who Christ is and the deep love He has for each child. My goal is for students to walk into our room and feel valued, supported, and inspired, academically and spiritually. We spend our days reading deeply, thinking critically, praying together, and learning how to treat others with kindness and grace. My classroom is special because it is more than a place to learn; it is a community where students can grow in confidence, discover their gifts, and become who God created them to be. Every detail, every routine, and every moment is centered around helping students feel loved and encouraged as they grow in knowledge and in Christ.

I teach 6th grade social studies, which, in Michigan, focuses a lot on Geography and culture. Though SS is often put in the back burner to critical subjects like math and reading, I firmly believe that learning about the world around us is absolutely necessary in our global society. It allows us to show how all of the different pieces of the puzzle can come together to create some pretty awesome things.

What makes this classroom special?

My preschool classroom serves children ages 4–5 during one of the most important stages of their development. Every day, our students build the foundational skills they need for kindergarten success through engaging, hands-on learning experiences in early literacy, writing, mathematics, and science.
While academic readiness is a priority, I believe children learn best through purposeful play. Our classroom follows an open-play model that allows students to make choices, solve problems, collaborate with peers, and explore materials based on their interests. This child-led approach fosters creativity, independence, communication, and critical thinking while encouraging a lifelong love of learning.
In addition to academics, we place a strong emphasis on developing fine motor skills through activities that strengthen the small muscles in children’s hands, preparing them for writing, cutting, and other everyday tasks. Sensory exploration is also an essential part of our classroom. By providing a variety of sensory experiences, students engage their senses, build language, regulate emotions, and deepen their understanding of the world around them.
To keep students engaged and continually challenged, I rotate classroom toys and learning materials throughout the school year. Introducing new, developmentally appropriate resources encourages curiosity, extends learning opportunities, and allows me to meet the diverse needs and interests of every child.
Funding items from my Amazon Wish List would directly enhance these learning experiences by providing high-quality educational materials, sensory resources, fine motor activities, and imaginative play opportunities that many of my students might not otherwise have access to. Every item selected has a purposeful role in supporting early childhood development and creating an engaging, inclusive classroom where every child can thrive.
Your generosity would have a lasting impact—not only by enriching our classroom today, but by helping build the confidence, skills, and love of learning that students will carry with them into kindergarten and beyond.

What makes this classroom special?

My classroom is more than just a place to learn reading and math—it's a place where my students feel loved, encouraged, and excited to come every day. I believe first grade should be full of wonder, laughter, and hands-on learning that creates memories my students will carry with them long after they leave my classroom.

I work hard to make learning fun and meaningful through interactive activities, games, and experiences that keep my students engaged while building their confidence. Every child who walks through my door is celebrated for who they are, and I want them to know it's okay to make mistakes because that's how we grow.

I constantly look for new ways to make my classroom feel warm, inviting, and full of opportunities to explore. Whether it's flexible learning tools, creative centers, or books that spark imagination, every resource has a purpose. My goal is for my students to leave first grade not only stronger readers and learners but also kinder, more confident, and excited about school.

At the end of the day, I hope my students remember my classroom as a place where they felt safe, valued, and truly believed in.

The staff and students at Woodland are amazing and like a little family. Each classroom is special and has its own great things about it whether that's the different furniture in each room or how a teacher sets up their calming spaces. The little things in an Amazon wish list helps make these spaces even better and our students feel more at ease in their learning environment when they have all of the resources! Bonus is when you can decorate your room for fun events like a GLOW party or other theme!

What makes this classroom special?

My classroom is special because it is more than just a place to learn, it is an immersive environment where curiosity, exploration, and discovery come to life every day. Inspired by *The Magic School Bus*, my classroom transforms students into young scientists who are encouraged to ask questions, investigate the world around them, and develop a genuine love for science.

Every aspect of my classroom is intentionally designed with purpose. The visuals, bulletin boards, and learning spaces are not simply decorations; they reinforce the content we are learning and encourage scientific thinking. Students are surrounded by standards-aligned resources, interactive learning tools, and opportunities to engage in hands-on inquiry that make learning both meaningful and memorable.

Representation is also at the heart of my classroom. I intentionally incorporate diverse, melanated students and scientists throughout my displays so that every child can see themselves as capable learners, explorers, and future STEM leaders. My goal is for every student who walks through my door to feel seen, valued, and inspired.

Most importantly, my classroom fosters a culture where mistakes are viewed as opportunities to learn, questions are celebrated, and every student feels empowered to think like a scientist. I want my students to leave my classroom not only with a strong foundation in science but also with the confidence, curiosity, and problem-solving skills that will serve them far beyond fourth grade.

My classroom is a place where imagination meets rigorous learning, and every day is a new scientific adventure. I’d truly appreciate support with making this happen this school year.

My classroom serves a vital and vibrant community: 50 to 60 of our school’s most at-risk K–5 readers. While this means I support more than double the number of students as a typical classroom teacher in my building, I receive the exact same base funding. Despite these budget constraints, it brings me tremendous pride to witness my students' growth. Seeing their reading abilities transform not only boosts their confidence, but also empowers them to better participate in their homeroom classrooms. Because I have the privilege of working with many of these students year after year, I am able to build deeply rooted, positive, and lasting relationships with both the students and their families. Having my Amazon Wish List fulfilled would mean the world to me and would be a big boost in providing the materials necessary to sustain my classroom.

What makes my classroom special? My students’ curiosity of science does. I work at a Title 1 school whose science curriculum is over 15 years old. When I started three years ago, I purchased a hands on curriculum for my students. I love watching their faces light up as science opened up a new level of curiosity for them. Last year, my class ran Science Fun Day where they taught kindergarten through third grade students science. My students decided what experiments they wanted to teach each grade level, how to teach the experiment, what the students were supposed to learn, and what questions to ask. These two days, I was able to watch my students’ growth from the year. Their confidence, understanding, questioning, and growth. I was so proud of all of them.

Hi! I am switching school districts and will be teaching STEAM class to pre-K though 5th grade students. This school has not had one teacher in this role, it has been a mix of traveling teachers so it will be nice to be at one school and get to know all of the students well. The room needs a lot of work to be a welcoming environment where students can learn and explore. I want to make an inclusive environment where students feel safe to make mistakes and know that it is part of the learning process. I want to have my students represented in books and resources in my class through seeing students who look like them with various abilities. I would use this money to create a welcoming space and to purchase STEAM supplies for students to use. Specials teachers often don’t receive donations like classroom teachers. This would be a huge help in setting students up to have a successful year. Thank you for considering!

My classroom is more than a place where students learn to cook—it’s where they learn confidence, responsibility, and the value of serving others. We’re building a student-led culinary program that mirrors a real commercial kitchen, giving students hands-on experience while teaching teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership.

Many of my students discover passions and strengths they never knew they had. Whether they’re mastering knife skills, creating menus, serving guests, or simply finding the confidence to try something new, my goal is for every student to leave believing they’re capable of more than they imagined.

This year is especially meaningful because we’re growing into our school’s first true commercial kitchen and café. Every donated item helps create opportunities for students to learn through real-world experiences that will impact them long after they leave my classroom.

Welcome to Space Academy: Mission to Third Grade! 🚀

As I begin my 12th year in public education, I am excited to create a classroom where curiosity, kindness, and confidence grow every day. At Space Academy, students are encouraged to think like scientists, solve problems like mathematicians, and explore new ideas through hands-on learning and technology.

Our classroom is a place where every student is valued, celebrated, and challenged to reach for the stars. With a love for STEM, math, and creative learning experiences, I strive to make each lesson engaging, meaningful, and fun. Together, we’ll build teamwork, perseverance, and a growth mindset as we complete exciting “missions” throughout the school year.

In our classroom, mistakes are opportunities to learn, questions are always welcome, and every student has the potential to shine. I can’t wait to embark on this incredible journey with my third-grade astronauts as we explore, discover, and achieve amazing things—one mission at a time!

This year will be my 4th year with 6 of my students . I love watching my students reach mile stones that others may overlook: learning a new word to communicate, becoming more independent mastering a daily living skill, or singly gaining confidence. Our students don’t just learn through academics . They learn through experiences, relationships , and opportunities to be part of the school community with their peers. We have our challenging times but we work through it by learning what our needs are at the time: is it a movement break , a sensory activity, a walk outside the classroom to regroup, 1-1 talk time, a calming break, a more structured task, a nurse check in, deep pressure or heavy work activities or outside time These are just a few think outside the box ideas we try to help our students recognize they may need before they melt down. We also celebrate the little wins as well as the big wins My students have taught me as much as I have taught them. They remind me every day to celebrate the little things , never give up and find joy in milestone along the way. I wouldn’t do any other job.

I have provided all of the things in my classroom to make my classroom a homey room. It’s important to me to make sure all students have what they need to make them feel safe, love, and important. Things on my list are to replenish what I’m almost out on or to replace things before I leave for my maternity leave in the fall/winter.

What makes this classroom special?

What makes my classroom special are the over 500 students I see on a weekly basis. Students who enter my classroom all with their own unique issues going on at home and at school, all with their own unique level of abilities in art. With each passing day though I see children gain confidence, I see children embracing their art projects and learning it doesn’t matter if it looks different than their peers or the teacher’s, what matters is they did their personal best and that they are seeing growth with each art class. What also makes my art class so special is the connections I am able to make with the students. Since art class is not like a typical academic class, the students are able to talk with one another while they work and I am able to join different tables and have conversations not only about their art projects, but about their lives in general. My room is a safe place for my students and I tell them over and over that there are no mistakes in art and it should be a safe haven for them, a place to distress, relax, and just let their minds create. The items in my wish list would help me to declutter and organize my art room. My room is very small and I have no storage closet or containers for my many smaller supplies so I have many items in zip lock bags. I also have listed books I would love to use in the art room. I enjoy reading to the younger students and basing our art projects off of the stories.

What makes my classroom special is that it is a place where every student—from kindergarten through eighth grade—has the opportunity to create, explore, and discover. Art gives students experiences they may not have outside of school, allowing them to experiment with a wide variety of materials, techniques, and creative processes.
One of my favorite parts of teaching is watching students experience those “aha!” moments as they work through challenges, solve problems, and realize what they are capable of creating. I strive to create an environment where mistakes are seen as part of the learning process and creativity is encouraged.
Most importantly, I want every student to leave my classroom with a sense of pride in their work. Whether they are a beginning kindergartener or an experienced eighth grader, I want them to feel confident, successful, and excited about what they have created. My classroom is a place where students are free to express themselves, take creative risks, and discover the joy of making art.
