Think You Can’t Buy a New Home? This Michigan Homebuyer Thought So, Too

Paul Whelan didn’t fit the mold of the typical homebuyer. For one, unexpected life circumstances had kept him from working for several years.

Yet, the Washtenaw County man had a job offer and the promise of some private funds coming his way. So, when Whelan started looking to buy a home, he was hopeful. 

That optimism became an exciting reality after Whelan walked into an Allen Edwin Homes model home and shared his story.

“I just said, ‘Look, I’m looking for a decent home at a decent price,’” Whelan recalled. “They started laying things out in a very informative manner, not a sales pitch at all, and made it quite easy to understand.

“They said, ‘Let us find a way to help you.’”

A few days before Thanksgiving, Whelan moved into a brand-new Allen Edwin home in one of the builder’s 100 Michigan communities. His story is one of over 700 homebuyers Allen Edwin Homes has helped overcome obstacles to obtain their own slice of the American Dream.
